Below are all of richard's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I'm now getting the ITV/C4/C5 Belmont mux here in Nottingham on the outdoor aerial which is pointing at Sutton Coldfield, but I have to make sure the aerial cable is not resting against any other wires round the back of the TV. Interference from other equipment can evidently have a big impact on digital signal quality, espeically if the signal is relatively weak.

I live in Nottingham and I have an old standard yagi rooftop aerial pointing at Sutton Coldfield, via which I could receive a barely watchable signal from Belmont (maintaing colour but a lot of noise). I'm now getting a perfect digital reception on channel 22.
Curiously, with an indoor aerial I could get an analogue Belmont reception comparable in picture quality with the rooftop aerial, but the indoor aerial does not pick up the improved digital signal on ch22 - Another example that proves there is a very fine line between perfect digital reception and a black screen.
