What a shambles overnight, no digital or analogue available from approx 00.35hrs UTC. NO WARNING OF IMPENDING SHUTDOWN. I do fortunately have access to Bilsdale Transmitter here in York so I was quickly able to realise that the problem was at Emley Moor. Wide Band Antennas seem to be essential if very poor customer service continues from Emley Moor.

Quite a long wait for the multiplex for the main BBC channels to come up. It would have helped if Emley Moor T.x website had shown which multiplexes would be used for the two week period starting today. For info they are : C40 C46 C47 C49 C50 and C52. Especially important here in York where if you use Autotune you can end up with a mix of signals from Emley Moor and Bilsdale. In this area manual tuning is required to receive programmes from Emley Moor

Ref my previous comments (5th from top of this page)and the two comments following from Hacker and David, Channels C22 C25 and C28 are indeed from Belmont, however you dont have to pick them up.

It is essential that you first remove all existing multiplexes on your Set Top Box or Dtv. There are several ways of doing this but the easiest is to return your Set Top Box or Dtv to `Default or Shipping Condition` in the menu, via Installation or Set Up (It depends on the make and model of equipment you are using)
When you have completed this the Set Top Box or Dtv may start on Automatic Tune Up, you must stop this very quickly otherwise (from channel 21) programmes will start to load up and you will be back where you started from.
You will then need to select Manual Search from the Installation Menu or Tuning Menu and then enter and save each of the multiplexes that you require in Yorkshire (list as my earlier comment).
Please note that entering multiplex channel numbers will not override any channels already tuned in.
A bit of a pain I know but if you only want signals from Emley Moor, but are picking up channels from other transmitters the above info should help (It will also get rid of Peter Levy !!!!).

Peter Leadill. York.
In answer to `Hacker` Multiplex or Mux is a group of channels transmitted in a `bundle` together.
The following list are the frequences for each multiplex used at the Emley Moor transmitter for the current Phase 1 of switchover : C40 626.0MHz : C46 674.0MHz : C47 682.0MHz : C49 698.0MHz : C50 706.0MHz : C52 722.0MHz. However you should not need these frequences for a Manual tune, the channel number is enough.
For greater understanding of Tv issues I would recommend `Television Viewers Guide` issued each December. A very informative publication that is easy to understand and is independent. It is available to purchase on line, www.viewersguide.co.uk or your local library will be able to obtain a copy for you.
