Below are all of technophobe's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.As my user name implies,I am technically illiterate so please bear with me if my query seems banal.
Why do I need to enter my postcode at stage 3 ? Also why can non Sky users only get 3 HD channels with ITV 2,3 & 4 HD only available through the purchase of a complete Sky HD package ? What is the TV license for if it only covers limited HD output ?

As usual the above comments were very helpful, but as an electrical illiterate, I have trouble setting up a complete system eg HD TV, Freesat receiver,DVD player ( for existing DVD collection ) and VCR ( ditto ).
Is it posible for Briantist to provide a simple schematic showing the connections between each item of equipment ? At present I don't know whether some items should be connected in series or in parallel to each other.

Would it be possible for Briantist to respond to my post of the 29th April ?

I just want to thank Briantist for his nice and simple schematic of the various connections between my HD TV, the Freesat box and DVD and Video player. Most useful for an electrical idiot like me.

I agree most vehemently with Briantist and am the first to admit to a visceral loathing of Murdoch and Sky who single handedly have turned the Premier League into the cash obsessed obscenity it now is. I stronly object to the licence fee being used to contribute to Sky's profits for a service that they should be paying for.
Additionally, is it right that Sky should dominate HD output to the extent that even the ITV satellite channels HD content is only available on Sky leaving only the two BBC and main ITV channels as free to view ?

Goody, goody ! Now we have a time shift on ITV 1 which is free to view. Why then are the ITV HD channels, apart from ITV 1 also not free to view and only available through a Sky package ?
