Below are all of dave macready's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Now that summer is finished my Sandy Heath reception is back to near 100% perfection. Even ch5+1 is at bang up full strength.
I got almost nothing of Wimbledon and only 50% of the Olympics due to co-channel interference, a MUCH bigger and longer lasting wipeout than I ever had with analogue tv. But the BBC and digital tv services seem loath to comment. Am I to be denied tv every summmer? And very cold winter days? AND certain foggy days? Can I get a 50% reduction on my TV license?

Now that winter seems finally over and we are getting some sunshine, Sandy Heath is begining to crackup again. Am I in for yet another summer of practically zero Freeview service?
What is being done about co-channel interference? I have yet to get anyone to admit there is a problem.

dave: I too have had a miserable summer with Sandy Heath. This has been the case ever since it went digital and I had an aerial and set top box almost on day One.
The problems always seem to start with Wimbledon! I then find I get poor or no reception 80% of the time from then on. The signal loss is almost totally just BBC programmes.: 1,2,3,4, Cbbc, Cbeebies and ( and this hurts me most!) radio, especially R3.
If this IS co-channel it is 1,000 times worse and longer lived than we had on analogue (I was a TV engineer for 40 years) . What annoys me most is that there is NEVER any mention of this problem on the TYV! Time was that weather peeps would mention a "lift" and give a warning of bad reception. Never hapens now. Is someone at the BBC SO embarassed at this monumental technical cock up that they dare not speak its name. I have tried to get some confirmation of the problem from the BBC (wher the proble is found 90% of the time) but no joy.

Once again, after several months of relatively trouble free viewing Sandy Heath is beginning to break up again as the weather warms up.
Last night Drama channel 20 was off air for 30% of "Waking The Dead" and BBCs 1.2.3.4 were showing signs of cracking and the HD channels were totally unavailable.
When is the BBC etc going to admit that they GROSSLY underestimated the effect of co-channel I on digital broadcasts and DO something about it or at least admit the problem and allow people to move on to other solutions?
Going satellite would be a big problem for me but if the BBC tell me it is the ONLY way to get consistent service at NN5 5P* I will do it!

My TV, Sony Bravia 32" keeps skipping chs 16 (wifes!) and 37 on many scans over several days.
I have done the no signal scan. I would like to try a manual scan but cannot find the channel numbers?
My two Freeview recorders are fine.
Regards, Dave.

I have just bought an i-CAN Freeview HD tuner and it is generally excellent for the money, £35. However, try as I might, I cannot get it to tune in channel 15 Flim 4. I have done all the "no-signal" tricks to no avail.
My Sony Bravia 32" tv and my Toshiba and Panasonic HD/DVD recorders all get ch 15 fine.
I am on the main Sandy Heath transmitter at NN5 5P*
