KT. I live 11 miles from the Emley Moor Tower and I stripped about 30 inches of twin and earth, using only the centre copper (earth wire), bent it into a circle and soldered the stripped end of an old RF interconnecting lead to it, (centre to one side, braid to the other) leaving the suitable end intact to plug into my TV. This hangs unobtrusively behind the set.
I now get all Emleys channels (ex HD as I dont use it) with 95% signal and 100% quality on most, and very acceptable levels on all the rest with no loss of picture or sound anywhere.

Lindsey Towler, I am almost in Featherstone and getting all channels very well on an old hifi radio loop. In Wakefield you are very close to a powerful transmitter. If you have any amplifier attached, (you say ALL tv's, which you may be running from a powered splitter), this really must be turned off or you will be getting too much signal. If you supply your full postcode, the very nice and helpful people who maintain this site will be able to help you further.

I have noticed a couple of incidents like this (sound stuttering) but only very briefly and at various times. I put it down to the pre-warned 'Liable to interruption' notice from the transmitter.

David Mansell, Unfortunately it is all about MONEY. Whatever is popular will attract advertisers (revenue), and of course the higher population will give them the most exposure. Imagine what the licence fee would be if we had to directly pay for all these channels. The fact that we pay through the nose for them on the product prices seems to be missed by many.

The relevance is that the fee goes to BBC only, all commercial channels are supported by advertisers. Whilst the BBC are obliged to feed the whole licenced community, commercial channels will target the largest audience.

Presume you get all BBC transmissions David, which is what your licence fee pays for, the rest is 'FREE' view.
I have tried to explain this and I am not prepared to get into a flame war about it.
My last word on the subject.
