Thank you for responding so quickly.
I have a Philips set-top box model number DTR 200/05 which I think I was given in December 2007 (or possibly 2006). The tv which this box is connected to is a Philips and at least 16 years old - I'm very impressed with its survival!
Having just checked the list (with all channels successfully present following a scan), the last Freeview channel in the list that I receive is 795 - Big Deal; so no channels from 800 upwards.
With respect to the fuzzy noise on the other tv, I mean the noise that you get without any signal i.e. no set-top box plugged in. This was expected as just prior to the digital switch over, I could hear the noise of the channels (e.g. the news) but couldn't see a picture. I'm wondering if I've made a stupid and obvious mistake (though I don't remember doing anything different) with this tv or whether a component inside the tv has actually broken?

Hi Dave,
Success - a very happy customer!
I followed your recommendations; wiped the channel list, did the the manual search for the five multiplexes and all the channels became available. I then switched off the set top box off (at the plug rather than standby) for two minutes and when I switched it back on again all the channels were still visible.

Hi Dave,
Apologies for slow response.
There doesn't seem to be any static and the fuzzy noise is intermittent eg on for 2 seconds, then off for 2 seconds. The aerial lead is plugged into the back of the tv but I haven't connected a set-top box because with screen being blank I wouldn't be able to install it. It's a Panasonic Quintix, not sure of the model number but I do think it's fairly old.

PS just realised that the model number is on the back of the tv(!), it's a TX-21MD3.

Hi,
I live in Norwich and have digital set-top box connected to an analogue tv and I believe the tv aerial is digital compatable with the Tacolneston transmitter. Since the digital switch over in November 2011, I have noticed a problem with some of the Freeview channels in that if I switch off the set-top box, it looses the following channels in the Mux category PSB2 D3+4:
3) ITV1
4) Channel Four
5) Channel Five
6) ITV2
13) Channel 4+1
14) More 4
28) E4
By undertaking a first time installation scan each time I switch on the set-top box I can retrieve these channels but this is obviously not an ideal situation.
As suggested by your advice page I have also followed the recommendations and removed the tv aerial from the set-top box, undertaken a scan of the channels to wipe the memory followed by another scan after I have plugged the aerial back in. This also provided access to the aforementioned channels but they were lost again as soon as I switched off the set-top box.
Just wondering if you can advise if this is a temporary problem and whether you have any other recommendations?
On a slightly different note, just before the digital switch over in November 2011 a problem with my other tv became apparent. It lost the ability to produce a picture but still had sound, I tried plugging in a digital set-top box and a dvd player but on each occasion there was no picture just sound. On its own the tv is not digital compatible so it doesnt provide any programme sound now, although when switched on it does provide the fuzzy noise but no picture. On the basis that I think the tv is at least 10 years old, do you think I should take it to my nearest recycling facility?
