Anne Beale: The digital coverage after switchover is planned to match that of the analogue transmitters that are being taken out of service. You don't mention which transmitter you are using or give a postcode in order to check reception predictions, but at most sites Mux D3+4 which carries ITV1&2, C4 and C5 will use the same frequency that gave you good reception on one of the analogue channels.

mark: It is most unlikely that the COM muxes will ever be transmitted from Aldeburgh. The owners of the muxes do not consider that it would be cost effective to extend coverage to relay sites. It is worth noting that the power of the COM muxes at Tacolneston and (from June 2012) Sudbury, is 100kW which is four times what would have normally been considered for the COM muxes at a transmitter site which used to have the analogue services at 250kW.

Steve H: Removal of the analogue channels does not cause the digital service to foul up. However the higher power digital transmissions do sometimes cause problems if viewers have boosters set up for the low power services, which then deliver too much signal when fed with the new high power signals. Another possibility is the tuning-in of a weak signal from an alternative transmitter which is found first when scanning, the correct signal on a higher frequency being ignored as a duplicate or stored as a variation in the 800s of the channel list. If a receiver does an automatic channel scan every night it is possible that the "wrong" transmitter is tuned in every night, a retune later in the day when the alternative transmitter is not as strong restores the correct channels. Before retuning note the frequency or UHF channel number of the channels which are giving trouble, then see if there is a change to this information after a retune. Lastly , a few receivers play up when receiving channels which have a frequency off-set. On the Oxford transmitter both D3+4 (ITV1&2, C4, C5 etc) and ArqA (Sky News etc) have a -ve offset, whilst BBCA has a +ve offset.

Alex Cockell: There is reference to BBC digital TV (BBC4 etc) being off air from 00.05 for DSO related work, so don't worry too much as it should return before 6am.

Terry: If you had good reception on Mux ArqB (which carries the channels you listed) before you retuned it suggests that you might have found and stored the channels from a different transmitter. Check which frequency you are receiving the problem channels on. It should be C48 for Sandy Heath, if it is C29 you are receiving a weak signal from Crystal Palace and will need to clear the channel list and do another retune. If possible do a manual tune to the Sandy Heath frequencies. ( C24, C27, C31, C52 and C48 plus C21+ for HD if required)This should restore correct reception on all channels.

David: MuxC/ArqA changed frequency on 23rd November 2011 and is now transmitted on C52. A retune is therefore required to restore reception of the missing channels.

Dave Lindsay: There is no mention of any future power increases at Belmont on the Digital UK postcode checker and posts made on 23rd/24th November suggest that the power increase for Muxes ArqA and ArqB did take place on 23rd November 2011.

Bruce Henderson: There is no such thing as a "digital aerial" This is a marketing tool to encourage viewers to purchase a new aerial which is suitable for digital tv reception. As you have no problems with reception on your tv with in-built Freeview the aerial you already have is obviously suitable, the reception problem with your Freeview box could either be that the box is (unusually) less sensitive than the tv tuner, is tuning in channels on a weaker transmitter, or is picking up interference on a fly lead. Also check that cables and connectors are in good order. From your reception predictions it is most likely that you are receiving the Crystal Palace transmitter, which is shown to give good reception on all muxes both now and after switchover. If your aerial is set for horizontal polarisation and pointing East check the frequencies being tuned in against those for Crystal Palace to confirm that the correct frequencies are being stored.

Michael J Gunnill: The HD channels are not yet being transmitted from Bluebell Hill. They will be, on C40 from 27th June 2012. It is likely that you are receiving a signal on C47 from Sudbury/Rouncefall, or if on C31 it will be from Crystal Palace.
