Below are all of KMJ, Derby's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.John Vincent: If, as seems likely, you are receiving signals from Crystal Palace (BBC London news) no re-tunes are required for DSO until 4th April 2012 and 18th April 2012. If you are receiving analogue transmissions from Sudbury and have lost BBC2, then yes, re-tune now for Mux BBCA, then again on 20th July 2011 for DSO stage 2 and also on 27th June 2012 when the COM muxes change frequency and switch on their high power transmitters. The Digital UK postcode checker makes no prediction for reception of Freeview from Sudbury at your location until high power working is adopted.

Burrell: If you are receiving signals from Sudbury there are currently two versions of BBC4 being transmitted. The first found during the scan is on MuxB which is at lower power than the second but is likely to be in position 9 in the channel list. The second is on the new high power Mux BBCA, but is likely to be found in the 800s of the channel list. MuxB will be switched off at DSO stage 2 on 20th July 2011. If you are receiving signals from Crystal Palace or Dover there is no change at these transmitters until next year. Note that if you have signals from both Sudbury and Crystal Palace present BBC4 could still appear in the 800s as MuxB from Crystal Palace would be found first in the scan.

Burrell: I should have said that if you supply your postcode a check can be made of what signals you are predicted to receive at your location.

Craig P: Regulation only covers the "technical competence" of the installation. A friend, who is quite house-proud was very upset by a team of electricians who didn't appear to care what they were doing. The work was carried out entirely in accordance with the IEE regulations, but sockets were installed at random heights above worktops and re-plastering was very poor including making good damage to the wall in the room behind the one in which they were working. No amount of regulation will alter the attitude of a man with no pride in his work.

Catherine: MuxArqB which carries Film4 switches to high power working at Winter Hill on 21st September 2011. There is currently a power restriction to reduce interference with MuxD from Sutton Coldfield which shares the same frequency until that date. If you are having problems with ITV2 does that include ITV1, C4 and C5 as these all share the same high power mux?

Suzanne: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts that you should have excellent reception on all muxes at your location. The lack of Mux2 could be due to the RF modulator on a VCR or Sky box being set around C68 causing it to block the Freeview signal. Another possibility is you have received a weak (and unusable) signal from Sandy Heath on C24 when scanning and found channels which are stored in the "normal" places in the channel list, the Oxford channels which are found at the end of the scan would then be found in the 800s of the channel list. Third possibility is if you have any amplification on the signal it could be too strong on Mux2.Last but not least the aerial could be sited in a null for the Mux2 signal or have a poor response on C68. If this is the case you should be OK after switchover as the current ITV1 frequency which you are receiving fine at present will be used by Mux D3+4. It might be worth checking that all cables and connectors are in order in case any poor connections are causing problems.

Paul: The Digital UK postcode checker makes no prediction for current reception (from Sudbury) of ITV1 and C4 on Freeview at your location. However good reception is shown for Mux D3+4 from Sudbury after DSO stage 2 on 20th July 2011. Good reception of Mux ArqA (Sky News etc) and Mux ArqB (ITV4, Film4 etc) is not expected until 27th June 2012.

John Fisher: You are receiving Freeview HD from Sandy Heath. After DSO stage 2 at Belmont on 17th August 2011 the HD mux will be transmitted on C28. If your tuner continues to place Sandy Heath channels in the "normal" positions in the channel list (these are found first when scanning for channels) and then puts Belmont HD channels in the 800s it will be necessary to enter the Belmont channels manually. Some tuners ask for a preferred region to be entered where more than one transmitter is available, others might choose the strongest signal.

Paddy: It is certainly possible that your friend is receiving the HD mux from The Wrekin. Another possibility is Winter Hill which is receivable in many parts of Stoke. A group C/D aerial set for horizontal polarisation is required for reception of Winter Hill.

Mike: The message to re-tune on 3rd August 2011 refers to the Belmont transmitter. DSO stage 1 takes place on that date at Belmont. Emley Moor is still due to have DSO stage 1 on 7th September 2011.
