In my case it's not too strong a signal that's causing the reception problems with com 5 & 6, the good reception I had only lasted one day, it's unwatchable again now, I still have around 70% signal strength bit the quality is all but gone, it's hovering around 5-10%

Forgot to say in my last post, the TV in the kitchen which is running of a rubbish indoor Ariel with a booster picks up com 5 & 6 fine yet the outdoor aerial has rubbish reception 99% of the time since the last retune!

@jb38, both tv's are recieving their signal from mendip & while the tree comment is valid, both ariels are pointing at the same trees, although at different heights obvisouly as the indoor ariel in the kitchen is near ground level, yet it picks up the signal just fine, you would have thought it would be the other way round with the outdoor aerial getting the perfect reception.
Actually I think this tree thing is just an excuse aerial fitters use, the fact that the indoor aerial is pointing at alot more trees than the outdoor one yet it has an excellent signal on all muxes from mendip.
The poor recpetion on the outdoor aerial is now happening whether it's windy, or not, it's just poor 99% of the time now, will just have to wait til the end of march when it should return to normal

All this about trees effecting signal etc, those trees have always been there, there still there now but as I type this I have perfect reception on com 5 & 6 again, i really have no clue why it's fine one day then lousy for the next few, prior to the last retune at the end of september I never had any problems with reception & again, those trees were always there!
Ah well, I have my sky box anyway to watch the channels when they're unviewable on freeview but I hope once the next change happens at the end of march that perhaps my freeview reception will go back to what it was before the september changes.

Yep the tv is definetly tuned to mendip, my tv can display the actual frequency (mhz) of the channel being viewed and they do match the frequencys for mendip.
Am able to recieve com 5 & 6 again tonight, seems at the moment that it's un-watchable during the day but ok at night!

Has anyone got any tips on what type of aerial would be best to use, am located in Worle, postcode bs226lj, and currently have issues with fluctuating signal quality on numerous channels, strength is stable and high, around 90-95 percent that's with using a booster which I don't think I should need one with an outdoor aerial but without the booster the fluctuating signal quality is even more of an issue so the fluctuating quality isn't directly related to using a booster. I do know about the pros and cons about using boosters so be need to really go into that, it's the types of aerial I'm interested in getting advice about.
We do have a main road outside the house, the fluctuating quality is a lot to do with traffic as the issue goes away late at night, early hours of the morning when there's obviously hardly any traffic going by. My location isn't on one of the high spots around Worle so the aerial doesn't have a direct line of sight but I don't think that's the issue with the quality fluctuating due to the situation improving late at night etc as the tall trees (not close by but are in line with the direction the aerial is pointing) are there all the time lol.
I'm sure I've seen an aerial advertised that is supposed to help with interference issues but can't recall if I'm correct on that one, the one we have on the roof now was installed a few years ago, the installer said it was good enough but it looks like the one of the old aerials that have been around 20 plus years, if you know what I mean.. The cable being used with the outdoor aerial is pf100.

Since the last retune at the end of september I've had problems with com5 & com6, have had the rare day when the reception has been fine but 99% of the time all channels on those 2 have been unwatchable. Windy conditions certainly effect reception on com5 & 6 which wasn't the case prior to the last retune but today com5 & 6 are booming in, 100% on both signal & quality and no fluctuations either, doubt it will last long though!
