Ali this seems to the norm, however we are told it's nothing to do with the transmitters, rest assured it will return as if by magic. You have clearly lost Mux 2, which is the usual one to go.

This digital roll out seems to be a disaster in every area so far switched, I am dreading what will happen with Oxford as we have had so many problems already.
In order to receive Mux 2 I have had to install a booster to all my aerials, as we simply cannot receive a signal without, this even applies to our distribution amplifiers.

jb, interesting advice, funny how other 'aerial experts' say exactly the opposite, the higher the better and external rather than internal.
As for the aerials, I don't think I said that but stand to be corrected, the one we have the least trouble( occasional break up) with is an old analogue aerial mounted indeed on our highest chimney stack.
The one with the most issues,we were advised by an aerial firm to raise up so we bought a proper 3 piece aerial pole, and it worked fine for a while and then we lost mux 2. My son who is a radio and radar specialist, head of section in RN came home at the weekend and we went through all the connections and positions using his kit to test each signal individually, and he has confirmed the integrity of each one.
So we can only wait and see again.

Bottom line as my expert son says this switch to digital makes no sense. Digital gives commercial organisations (TV companies) greater capacity to feed to customers but the signal we still watch on our televisions is analogue.

I am dreading the 14th, first retune day for Oxford. Reading these comments is there a change over that has worked without problems because it doesn't appear so.

Can someone explain why none of these, it seems, country wide, problems were identified before now, and if they were why were we not told. I run a motel and believe me if we experience the problems others have on the 14th I know at least one long term resident who will simply not understand it's not our fault, and to be honest can you blame him when we are told this switch would be great for consumers.
By the way what happens if we don't retune on 14th and just wait for the 28th.

Sam exactly the same problem for us after several a little stability. Who knows what is normal, all I can say is in our case New television, new aerial, new cabling F connects, and still problems. BBC Channels absolute fine. Not even a flicker on the signal strength monitor for ITV, assuming of course they are still on 68 which is not actually clear from the information.

jb38, thank you for that, I note you are an engineer, could you therefore perhaps offer your view of the possible cause of the way that MUX 2 stations seem to randomly disappear from the Oxford transmitter.
We are constantly told it is anything but the transmitter, and yet the mux reappears without any alteration of my systems and I suspect it is the same with others.
