Many thanks. I will try this but it's the slightly weaker channels that play up and the strongest ones are fine. Most of my channels are 90 / 95% but it's the 85/90% ones where I have the problem.

Steve, Wrekin because I was unable to get a decent picture from Sutton on the old analogue service. Our estate has some on Wrekin amd some on Sutton. My house is partially blocked from Sutton as it's in a bit of a dip and taller buildings block the signal. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I might try turning the aerial on to Sutton Coldfield and removing the amp. Maybe I might get better results by doing this.

Thanks again Steve for your input. I don't have a portable aerial or bit of wire presently but I may get up the loft at the weekend and move the aerial / remove the amp. I take your point about pointing skywards a little and I'll try that if I do anything. When I had analogue I simply couldn't get a decent picture on Sutton C but it may be different now with digital.

Thanks again to all who responded. Last night I plugged a 0-20db attenuator into the back of my Humax box. At first I didn't think it had done anything because I still got 95% signal strength on the "strong" channels on my Samsung tv. However, turning the variable attenuator so as to give maximum effect, it did reduce the signal strength on the weaker channels only by about 10%. Lo and behold it seems to have done the trick and I managed to receive perfect reception. Still can't understand this though because only the weaker channels were playing up in the first place and now they're effectively weaker the reception is better ! By the way I checked the channel numbers and definately all of my signals are coming from the Wrekin. It remains to be seen whether the improvement is permanent

Steve, Yes I'm no expert but I wondered whether I had managed to sufficiently supress any spurious signal/s or interference. Time will tell, I guess

I have a loft mounted wideband aerial with properly screened lead and masthead amplifier. My signal comes from the Wrekin and is generally around 90 / 95% strength and good quality. Most channels are received perfectly. However, since the final retune last month, I get dropouts every 5 or 10 mins lasting a second or two only and only on channel 44C/Yesterday/Film 4 it seems. BBC and ITV / The 5 channels are all perfect. Anyone got any ideas ? Thanks
