Thanks for the replies so far guys, after Dave metioned Little Eaton i pointed in that direction as it's roughly same as Waltham and managed to get all muxes on Waltham using this aerial:
Labgear 27879LAB Megaboost Aerial with 4-Way Amplifier & Fixing Kit | Screwfix.com
Some channels were quite good reception but others like itv 3 were realy poor, breaking up and high bit errors.
I'm assuming these were on the lower powered multiplexes.
I exchanged the aerial for this one:
Labgear TV Aerial High-Gain Digital | Screwfix.com
Believe it or not this was worse, so i got a refund.
Not sure which to try next, maybe this one woth a masthead amp ??
Labgear TV Aerial High Gain 48-Element | Screwfix.com
I am in the loft doing these tests as i don't like heights although if it came to the worst i could go to gutter height and fix a stand off bracket and long pole. (DE564FE)

Problem solved !!!
Bought a cheap freeview box today for another room when waltham reception was sorted.
Tried it on sutton Coldfield just to check it was ok, at end of tuning it asked which region i preffered, east or west midlands, i8 now have east and west mids news coming from Sutton Coldfield !! no idea how it does it but i'm realy pleased, it's saved me a fortune, even my tv with built in freeview doesn't do that.
Thanks to everone who replied and if you know somebody having same problem please pass this info on.

Ok,now i'm confused, just retuned the tv and that is also picking up BBC East and West. The East is on channel 48 which is Derby relay, i am only getting 17 on signal strength with bit error fluctuating betwen 9 and 14 so maybe it's the weather because it never used to pick it up, oh well, put the champagne back.

Belper
Hi,Anybody here from the Belper area receiving Waltham or anybody else know if it's possible. I'm currently getting Midlands Today from Sutton Coldfield, I'd prefer East Midlands Today if possible as it's more relevant to where i live.
Thanks,
Jim.
