Thanks Brian.
I see it has just been announced that analogue will finally be switched off in Northern Ireland on 24 October 2012. I am sure full details will follow shortly but I presume the switchover process will be done in (two) stages in the weeks leading up to that final date?

JUst to clarify, BBC2 will be going off 2 weeks before and the rest of the old analogue going off air on the 24th October.

Recently ( early November 2011) BBC DAB signals have improved greatly in the Warrenpoint area of South Down. All the BBC signals are now coming in 'full strength' on my DAB portable radio, except strangly enough , BBC Radio Ulster which just remains at 'Tuning' and never locks onto a signal. Does nayone know if these improved signals are coming from the local Rostrevor transmitter or would they be from Camlough? No sign of the Independant networs yet in this area. Of course, for some time we have been getting the full range of RTE DAB stations from just over the border.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to add the independent network to the Camlough DAB transmitter (which also carries Radio Ulster) or even to the Rostrevor transmitter? Recently when carrying out a scan my Roberts DAB radio has started to 'detect' some of the commercial stations but the signal is not quite strong enough to enable reception.

Thanks for your replies :-) The New Digital One transmitters started transmitting today but unfortunately the Camlough transmitter is not yet included. I wait in hope of getting the full service and Radio Ulster on DAB some day.

Just an update as of 12th July 2016 now receiving Radio Ulster, Downtown etc. on a portable dab radio I presume from the local Camlough transmitter. I had read elsewhere of planned upgrades to be completed before end of September 2016.

Apparently they will be confirming the dates for the digital switchover in NI some time this month (October 2011).
Quote:
'Digital UK, the body in charge of digital switchover, appointed JPR following a competitive pitch.
Northern Ireland will be the final part of the UK to switch over from analogue, taking place next year.
JPR MD Jane Wells will lead the account, supported by former Belfast Telegraph and BBC Northern Ireland journalist Andrea Clements, an account manager at JPR.
Wells said: The switchover elsewhere in the UK has been extremely successful to date, and were very much looking forward to helping complete the circle with a successful switchover in Northern Ireland.
As part of the arrangement, JPR has also secured the contract to provide media relations support for the Switchover Help Scheme in Northern Ireland.
The campaign will kick off in Northern Ireland this month when the exact date of the switchover in Northern Ireland will be announced.'
End of quotation.
