published on UK Free TV

A small number of Freeview boxes no longer have a full EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) due to the InView guide stopping transmission.

The following boxes now can only access the now-and-next information on Freeview:

  • Digifusion FRT101
  • Digifusion FVRT100
  • Digifusion FVRT145
  • Digifusion FVRT150
  • Digifusion FVRT200
  • Digifusion FVRT400
  • Inverto IDL-7000T
  • Inverto IDL-7000M
  • Thomson DHD4000
  • Sony SVR-S500

If you have one of these boxes, you probably will need to replace it with a modern Freeview+ box.

The other Freeview electronic programme guides, including Freeview+, 4TVinteractive and GuidePlus+ are not effected.

Wow! I wasn't even aware that there were multiple, incompatible EPGs on FreeView. I had the impression that even original On Digital and ITV Digital boxes still worked!

That may explain a problem that my wife's great uncle had a few months ago. Luckily the vintage box was originally supplied to him free by a church member so it didn't owe him anything.

He has a new box now although I'm not sure how he obtained it or how much, if anything, he paid for it but he should have been entitled to some assistance with it under the government scheme for the elderly.

He's in Wales where they've been all digital for quite a while, of course.

Félim Doyle: The ONdigtal (and ITV Digital) boxes still work with the EPG, but do not work in the switched over regions because they don't support the 8k mode. TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

All Freeview boxes sold with the "Digital Tick" mark use the main EPG and will work before and after switchover.

ITV4 epg link does not work on my sony dvd recorder, thus I have failed to record three programmes. On other forum sites I have seen people complaining about this problem. Are ITV4 aware of this fact? Do they care? Will they fix it?

Iam getting fed up of having to keep replacing euipment because of older STB's not coping with 8k mode. My Digifusion FRTV 245 hasn't been able to get a full EPG since last june 2010 so I now have to manually set the timers for any programmes that are later aired.I did call BEKO who now have taken over Digifusion and they say they can't help me in any way. GRRR Freeview have said they are looking in to trying to provide a solution for affected STB's. But in what way could Freeview help??
Thank you

Dave: Freeview do not provide the equipment or broadcast the channels, so they will not be able to help. Freeview is simply the marketing name for the service.
