TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode

Boxes that do not support both 2k and 8k modes
Some boxes are having problems during switchover supporting both modes at the same times:- Sharp TU-R160H
- Humax 9200T
- Thomson DTi 1000
The workaround appears to be to add the "8k" channel manually (C62 for Selkirk, for example) and then to do this procedure after switchover is complete: My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002
This is on top of the boxes that could not cope with the changes to the Network Information Table (NIT): Daewoo DS608P, Labgear DTT100, Triax DVB 2000T, Portland DP100 and these VCR/STBs: Daewoo SV900, Bush IDVCR01

Phil T - Can you tell which tx is at 5 and which at 804? Some boxes show channel used; others don't. Does the one at 804 have the news you want.

Since the Waltham swichover on 31/8, I have lost most of my T.V channels. I have a Wharfedale DV3 Freeview box which is fairly new and has given no trouble before. I live in a block of flats owned by the local authority.If I find other residents are having similar problems to mine, is the landlord liable to replace the aerial on the roof? Meanwhile, is there anything else I can try, in addition to the suggestions above, to restore my channels, as of the main ones I have only ITV2plus1 and ITV3. Chanels 21-68 are the only ones scanning when I try to re-install No BBC, Itv1 or Ch 4 or 5. Thank you

Susan - I doubt if the landlord is OBLIGED to supply TV feeds - unless mentioned in the lease.
But think it will do so to avoid insurrection and human rights actions.

Might not be your issue but just a thought, anyway:
Strong Digital Signal
Digital signals can be too strong in some locations, and this can give just as much trouble as a weak digital signal.
Some makes of digital TV (Panasonic in particular) seem to have more sensitive digital tuners. This is useful when the digital signal strength is low, but will reach overload more quickly when presented with a strong signal.
The symptoms of digital signal overload can appear identical to those of a weak signal - the picture shows pixellation and the sound breaks up. This condition is easily resolved by adding an attenuator in the signal path to reduce the input to the correct level.

Susan: Under the law, the landlord must allow you access to Freeview, but is not required to provide it to you. So, if there is a fault or problem, you have to pay to fix it, but the landlord must allow you the access.

I don't doubt that Brian is correct - but would be interested to know what law says that.
Whatever LAWS may be in place, it is possible that your lease/tenancy agreement obliges the landlord to provide TV aerial feeds int oyour flat. Check. And, mosst of all, ask the neighbours what their experiences are.

Susan: All UK Freeview boxes scan UHF channels 21 to 68, that is the freqency range covered by the box. It sounds like you are only receiving MuxA which stayed at low power and 2k mode. The most likely explanation is either the box does not support the 8k mode, or the high power signals are too strong, in which case you need to insert an attenuator in the aerial feed to the box. The aerial to your block should at least deliver MuxBBCA and MuxD3+4 as these are using frequencies originally used by analogue ITV1 and C4.
